Vena Energy has announced that it will launch the 1.8 GW Wei-Na and Wei-Long offshore wind projects in order to participate in auctions under Taiwan's Phase 3 Offshore Wind Zonal Development.
The Wei-Na Offshore Wind Project will have a capacity of 1.2 GW and will be situated 20 km off the coast of Miaoli County, with a site area of around 126 sq km and a water depth of approximately 52 to 70 m. The 600 MW Wei-Long Offshore Wind Project will be installed 43 km outside of Changhua County, and will cover an area of around 76 sq km at a depth of between 40 and 100 m.
The two offshore wind projects are expected to use large wind turbines with a single capacity of 14 MW to 20 MW.
The installation of the final jacket foundation, subsea cables and all 47 wind turbine foundations have been successfully completed for the 376 MW Formosa 2 offshore wind project in Taiwan.
