The installation of the final jacket foundation, subsea cables and all 47 wind turbine foundations have been successfully completed for the 376 MW Formosa 2 offshore wind project located in the Taiwan Strait off the coast of Miaoli County, western Taiwan.
The Offshore wind farm is being jointly developed by JERA(49%), Macquarie's Green Investment Group (26%) and Swancor Renewable Energy (25%). Once completed, the wind farm will provide enough energy to power 380,000 households and will offset 18,750 kt of CO2 over its lifetime
The jacket foundation structures are up to 91 m in height and 1,581 tons in weight. The wind turbine foundations are connected by 47 sections of Inter Array cables with a further four export cables transmitting the power to the onshore electricity grid. The combined total length of installed subsea cables is 114 km with all subsea cables rated at 69 kV.
JERA, Macquarie's Green Investment Group (GIG), and Swancor Renewable Energy have finished installing 12 turbines in the Formosa 2 offshore wind project off the coast of Miaoli County, western Taiwan.
