JERA, Macquarie's Green Investment Group (GIG), and Swancor Renewable Energy have finished installing 12 turbines in the Formosa 2 offshore wind project off the coast of Miaoli County, western Taiwan and have transmitted the first power to the national grid.
The jacket foundations and subsea inter-array cables were installed in April and May, respectively, and the turbine installation began in early June. More than half of the underwater foundation installations have been completed, and more than a quarter of the turbines have been installed.
Formosa 2 offshore wind project will have a total installed capacity of 376 MW when completed. It is estimated to displace 18,750 kt CO2 over its lifetime while powering the equivalent of 380,000 households annually.
