Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE), a pioneering offshore wind developer in the Asia-Pacific region, announced that its Formosa 6 Offshore Wind Project (Formosa 6) has entered into a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Star Trade, an international power services and energy management provider.
The agreement follows a CPPA signed with Star Trade for Formosa 4 in late 2025, further deepening collaboration between the companies. With Formosa 6 added, Star Trade has now contracted more than 10% of the two projects’ combined capacity, reflecting robust corporate demand for long-term green electricity supply and the growing role of offshore wind in meeting that demand.
Formosa 6, awarded 800 MW in the second auction round of Taiwan’s Phase 3 Zonal Development in 2024, is SRE’s fourth offshore wind project in Taiwan. The agreement comes as governments place greater emphasis on energy security amid a rapidly evolving global political and economic landscape, with renewable energy increasingly viewed not only as an environmental priority, but as a strategic asset for strengthening energy security and economic resilience.
