Rise Light & Power plans to develop up to 3.9 GW Queensboro Renewable Express offshore wind transmission project that will bring renewable energy and replace existing fossil fuel generation in Queens, New York City, USA.
For two years of ongoing development, Rise has conducted 255 miles of geophysical studies in New York Harbor to locate the safest and most effective location for buried, underwater, high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables. Up to 3.9 GW of offshore wind energy will be transported via multiple sets of transmission cables from the Atlantic Ocean through the Verrazano Narrows, Upper New York Bay, and East River to the Ravenswood site in Queens, with no negative effects on public lands like beaches, streets or other property.
