PepsiCo Inc, a food and beverage company, has struck a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Iberdrola SA for the output of its 590 MW Francisco Pizarro solar farm in Caceres province in the Spanish region of Extremadura, Spain.
Iberdrola will supply green energy to 11 PepsiCo facilities. The PepsiCo PPA will take effect on January 1, 2023, the quantity or duration of the PPA is not announced
The solar farm is developed on 1,300 hectares of land between the municipalities of Torrecillas de la Tiesa and Aldeacentenera, in Cáceres. The Francisco Pizarro plant will be capable of generating enough power to meet the consumption needs of some 334,000 homes per year and will prevent the emission into the atmosphere of more than 150,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
