Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has announced that it is planning to develop a 1 GW Solar PV project in Rajasthan state of India.
The Indian oil and gas company is currently seeking approval from the Rajasthan state government for 5,000 ac (about 20 km2) of land to construct the proposed plant. The total estimated investment of the project is INR50 billion (US$610 million). The project will take three years to be completely commissioned.
ONGC possesses 31 MW of installed solar capacity and 153 MW of wind. Along with Equinor, the company is exploring scope of an offshore wind project. It has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Greenko to develop a hydrogen project.
