Lightsource bp signs PPA for 210 MW Solar PV project in Brazil

Lightsource bp, the renewable energy unit of BP Plc, has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with America Energia for the 210 MWp Milagres solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Abaiara, Ceara in Brazil.

The signed PPA includes the issuance of Renewable Energy Certificates (IREC) for the entire duration of the partnership. The 210 MW solar project will reduce the emission of 246,216 tons of carbon dioxide per year, equivalent to the diesel fuel consumption of more than 57,000 cars.

With a total investment of BRL800 million (US$154.33 million), the solar farm is expected to be operational by 2024.
