Financing provided for part of 808 MW Wind Complex in Brazil

Brazil's Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has granted a BRL83.8 million (USD 16.9 million) loan to support the financing of a 34.8-MW wind power project located in the state of Bahia, Brazil.

The Northeast Development Fund (FDNE) of Sudene, which will provide a total of BRL 122.7 million (US$24.77 million) to support the project, is the source of the funding, according to the Brazilian government agency. The wind park will have six turbines and cost BRL 207.6 million (US$41.91 million) to build.

The wind project will be developed by Serena Energia SA, formerly known as Omega Energia and is a part of the Assurua Wind Complex. The Assurua complex has a total capacity of 808 MW and consists of 15 wind parks, featuring a total of 240 wind turbines. The wind complex will be developed in two phases, the first phase of the wind facility will have a capacity of 540 MW and features 120 V150-4.5 MW turbines. It consists of 15 wind parks, featuring a total of 240 wind turbines.
