Feasibility study for 130 MW floating solar power project in India

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has announced plans to conduct a feasibility study for a groundbreaking 130 MW floating solar power project on Dumbur Lake in Tripura’s Gomati district in India.

In collaboration with the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA), NTPC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the feasibility study for the floating power plant. The feasibility study will primarily focus on assessing the area of the water body required for the plant, identifying local transfer stations, and obtaining forest clearances since this project marks the state’s inaugural foray into renewable energy production.

The study, projected to cost INR4.5 billion (US$54.4 million), is expected to be completed within the next few months.
