Iberdrola has secured a favorable Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the development of the 318 MW Ciudad Rodrigo solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Salamanca, Spain.
The EUR200 million (US$214.7 million) solar farm will be equipped with more than 826,000 modules that will generate sufficient renewable energy to supply 150,000 homes per year and prevent the emission of 75,000 tonnes of CO2 each year. The facility will be installed on a 439 ha site between Valdecarros and the Torralba mountains.
The construction of the Ciudad Rodrigo solar farm was supposed to begin in 2021.
With this project, Iberdrola reaffirms its commitment to Castilla y León, which is consolidating its position as an important centre for renewable energy developments in the company's investment cycle to 2025, where it already manages over 5,100 MW, making it the autonomous community with the most green MW installed by the company.
Acciona has commissioned the 125 MW Extremadura I, II, and III solar photovoltaic (PV) complex located in the town of Almendralejo, in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain.
