Ishaa Energy Renewable Company has awarded Bureau Veritas to provide engineering services for the 1425 MWac Al Kahfah Solar PV Power Plant in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement with Bureau Veritas encompasses services such as design review, project management, off-site quality control and assurance, module testing, liaison engineering, construction QA/QC, construction management, and commissioning management. The execution of the Al Kahfah Solar plant will be carried out by PIF, partnering with ACWA Power as the lead developer, through the Water and Electricity Holding Company (Badeel).
The power plant will be located on a 35 sq km site in the Al Kahfah region, about 100 km north of the city of Dammam. It will use over 3.5 million solar panels to generate electricity, which will be transmitted to the Saudi electricity grid. It is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 300,000 homes and to offset over 2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. It is also expected to create thousands of jobs during construction and operation. The solar Plant is anticipated to be completed in 2026.
