Marubeni Corporation has begun commercial operations at the 479 MW Akita Port Offshore Wind Farm project located in Akita Port and Noshiro Port in Akita Prefecture, Japan, based on the feed-in tariff scheme for renewable energy.
The offshore wind farm has been developed through the Akita Offshore Wind Corporation (AOW), a special purpose company established jointly by OBAYASHI CORPORATION, Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd., The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., The Akita Bank, Ltd., Ohmori Co., Ltd., Sawakigumi Corporation, Kyowa Oil Co., Katokensetsu. Co. Ltd, Kanpu Co., Ltd., and Sankyo Co., Ltd.
Since December 22, 2022, the Noshiro Port Offshore Wind Farm has been in operation. By the time Akita Port begins operations, the Offshore Wind Farms are operating at full capacity. AOW intends to operate and maintain the Offshore Wind Farms for 20 years from its Noshiro Port base.
JERA Co has submitted the Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document for the development of the planned 340 MW offshore wind power generation project located in Akita Prefecture, Japan.
