Votorantim Energia was created in 1996 with the mission of making the Votorantim Group's energy supply viable at a competitive price and supporting industrial units in any scenario of demand. Today, the Votorantim Group is the largest private self-producer in the country, having 33 hydroelectric plants and 5 thermoelectric plants totaling 2,604 MW of installed capacity and its trading company is one of the largest in Brazil, managing 107 consumer units, representing 9% of the industrial consumption of the country (4% of total consumption).
