Brazil's National Development Bank (BNDES) will support the construction of 68 MW of solar project through a loan of BRL189.9 million (US$36.7 million), which corresponds to 80% of the total project cost of BRL237.4 million (US$45.9 million). It is granted to VTRM Energia Participacoes SA, a joint venture (JV) between Votorantim Energia and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).
The solar park is part of a wind-solar hybrid project in Piaui state. Situated in Curral Novo, it will provide the power needs of 80,000 homes.
Ventos do Piaui I, the wind portion of the hybrid project has been connected to the Brazilian Interconnected System (SIN).
