KOMIPO is a state-owned South Korean power generation company founded in 2001, following the restructuring of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). It is headquartered in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province. The company operates a diverse portfolio of power generation assets, including thermal power plants (coal, heavy fuel oil, LNG), and is expanding into renewables (solar, wind, and waste‐to‐energy). It is committed to sustainability and aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its generation mix: for instance, targeting that 30% of its generated electricity comes from renewable sources by 2030. KOMIPO is active domestically and internationally. It has been involved in overseas power plant projects (e.g., in Indonesia) and is also exploring new technologies such as hydrogen, energy storage, and other green innovations. Financially, it is a major player: in FY 2024, its revenue was about ₩7.2 trillion, with notable profitability. Its role as a core subsidiary of KEPCO places it centrally in South Korea’s strategy for power generation, energy transition, and environmental responsibility.
