The Western Australian Government is investing in a major renewable hydrogen project as part of the latest round of the WA Renewable Hydrogen Fund.
ATCO Gas Australia (ATCO) has been awarded a grant for major capital works project valued at AUD2.6 million (US$1.91 million) to assist with decarbonizing the Western Australian (WA) gas distribution network.
Renewable hydrogen produced at ATCO’s Clean Energy Innovation Hub near Perth will be blended into isolated sections of the Mid-West and South-West Gas Distribution Systems (GDS), lowering emissions for the WA community.
The project aims to blend up to 10 percent hydrogen into the GDS, supplying up to 2,500 customers with renewable hydrogen blended gas and will be the largest project of its kind in Australia.
