Wisconsin Electric Power Co (WEPCO), a unit of WEC Energy Group Inc (WEC), and Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) has received approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to acquire the 150 MW of the Badger Hollow II Solar Farm, the second phase of the 300 MW Badger Hollow solar project being developed by Invenergy LLC.
Badger Hollow is located in southwestern Wisconsin, in Iowa County, near the villages of Montfort and Cobb, about 12 miles west of Dodgeville. The second phase of the Badger Hollow Solar Farm is expected online next year.
MGE will own the 50 MW of the second phase, in addition to its 50 MW that has already been approved in the initial phase of the project, while WEPCO will own the two-thirds of the project's total capacity.
