The Dau Tieng solar power complex has been inaugurated in Vietnam. With a designated solar capacity of 420 MW, it is now the largest solar project in Southeast Asia.
The solar complex, which is a joint venture of B.Grimm Power Public Company and Xuan Cau Co Ltd, occupies 540 hectares within the semi-submerged land at Dau Tieng Lake in Tay Ninh province and has an investment of more than VND9.1 trillion (US$391.3 million).
The plant is expected to provide about 688 million kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of nearly 320,000 households. It is estimated that electricity generated by the farm can meet the power demand of Tay Ninh and supply additional power to the southern region.
Construction on the complex started in June 2018 and was completed in about 10 months.
