The Eastern Mining Company (VGK), the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (KRDV) and the Government of the Sakhalin Region have signed an agreement on cooperation in the construction of a 67.2 MW wind farm in the Uglegorsky District of the Sakhalin Region, Russia.
The tripartite agreement aims to support the development of the project that will make the island region carbon-neutral by 2025. The farm will have 16 wind turbines and would represent up to RUB8.5 billion (US$116.14 million) of investment.
The VGK plans to start the construction of the project in 2022 and to achieve commercial operation by the end of 2024.
