Vestas has been selected to provide 184 MW of V120-2.2 MW turbines as the latest extension of the previously purchased 2 MW Vestas PTC components for the 200 MW Blazing Star Wind Project. The new technology is vital in expanding wind projects into new low and medium wind speed regions, harnessing previously uneconomical wind resources. Delivery is expected in the  third quarter of 2019.

The Blazing Star Wind Farm is located in Lincoln County in Minnesota. The project is owned by Blazing Star Wind Farm LLC, a fully-owned subsidiary of Geronimo Energy, and is the first phase in a two part, 400 MW total project. The total Blazing Star Wind Farm’s footprint spans approximately 35,000 acres in Hansonville, Hendricks and Marble Townships, and represents a total investment of approximately US$320 million once fully developed.

Commissioning of the turbines and a 10-year operation and maintenance services will also be provided to ensure optimised performance for the lifetime of the project.
