Vena Energy Australia has opened its 95-MW/127-MW DC Tailem Bend solar park located 100km south-east of Adelaide in South Australia and starts working on a similar-sized second phase project and a battery storage plan.
The photovoltaic park consists of over 390,000 Jinko Solar panels that are expected to generate 200,000 MWh of electricity per year, enough to supply about 40,000 homes. Vena Energy secured a power generation license and generated first power from the plant in February.
UGL Pty Ltd, a unit CIMIC Group Ltd, was the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the AUD200 million (US$138.8m) project. Snowy Hydro Ltd will purchase the entire output of the project under a 22-year off-take deal.
