Vattenfall receives planning consent for 1.8 GW Offshore wind farm in UK

The UK Government has awarded planning consent for Vattenfall’s Norfolk Boreas Offshore Wind Farm. The 1.8 GW project is located in the eastern North Sea, 72 kilometers off the Norfolk coast in the east of England.

One rotation of the blade could power an average UK home for more than 2 days. The project is part of Vattenfall’s proposed Norfolk Zone and will produce electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of around 2 million UK homes. It will also help to prevent 3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

Vattenfall is also anticipating a consent decision on Norfolk Vanguard. Final investment decisions on the two projects would only be taken once they have been successful in the  Contract for Difference (CfD) process.
