Uruguay commissions 500 kV Melo - Tacuarembó transmission line

The National Administration of Electric Power Plants and Transmissions (Administracion Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Electricas) of Uruguay has commissioned the 500kV extra-high voltage (EHV) transmission line Melo-Tacuarembo. 

Initially, the project operates in 150 kV with a planned upgrade to 500 kV in the future that interconnects Melo to Salto. The project represents about US$1 billion for development.
