The construction of the first large-scale wind farm in Colombia is set to start with the arrival of turbines in the municipality of Uribia in the La Guajira department.

The 20 MW Guajira I wind farm will consist of ten 78-meter high wind turbines, each with a 2 MW capacity, supplied by Vestas Wind Systems A/S. Spanish infrastructure builder Elecnor SA has been selected to deliver the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the project.

The wind farm is expected to be operational before the end of 2021.
