Tilt Renewables has announced that all wind turbines erected at the 54 MW Salt Creek Wind Farm located in Western Victoria have been successfully commissioned and taken over. The 15 turbines, provided by Vestas, began supplying the grid in June.
The wind farm produced slightly above expected energy yield in July, consistent with the wind speeds experienced. It is expected to produce around 172 GWh a year, enough to power around 30,000 homes.
For the remainder of 2018, half of the plant's output is being purchased at a fixed price by Meridian Energy. The remaining 50% will be sold into the wholesale market, including through Largescale Generation Certificate (LGC) forward contracts. From 2019 to 2030, Meridian will purchase the entire output.
This is Tilt Renewables' first completed project since demerging from Trustpower in late 2016.
