RWE selects American manufacturer GE Vernova to supply more than 100 domestically produced wind turbines for 308 MW of energy projects in West Texas, USA.

RWE is upgrading its 127 MW Forest Creek wind farm and preparing to launch construction of the 181 MW Honey Mesquite project in Fall 2025, adding a combined 308 MW of new and modernized power capacity in West Texas. Both projects will feature GE Vernova's U.S.-manufactured wind turbine technology. To support these developments, GE Vernova is utilizing its extensive domestic supply chain and production capabilities to supply 109 advanced 2.82 MW wind turbines.

Onsite construction is in progress at Forest Creek to upgrade the facility and extend its operational life by an additional 30 years. The project involves dismantling all original wind towers, turbines, and related components, followed by the installation of new tower foundations for 45 GE Vernova turbines. Forest Creek is expected to be back in operation by the end of 2025. In line with its commitment to sustainability, RWE is collaborating with Wanzek Construction, Inc., a MasTec Renewables company, to ensure that all decommissioned components, including wind turbine blades, rotors, and nacelles, are either repurposed or recycled.
