Sungrow has signed eight contracts with local partners for the micro-grid energy storage projects in Lebanon, which will have cumulative capacities of 14 MW/ 24.9 MWh and a PV capacity of 12.4 MW. The projects are aimed at providing power to communities and facilities in order to mitigate the ongoing electricity crisis caused by weak and insufficient infrastructure. The combined use of PV and energy storage systems offer a possible way to address the pressing energy needs of the country.
Lebanon's energy crisis has reached an all-time high record. The power supply is contracting due to the rising cost of fossil fuels, which is the primary energy source for the country. To diversify its energy mix, Lebanon is exploring the addition of more renewables. The use of micro-grid projects that integrate PV and energy storage systems offers a potential solution to tackle this energy crisis.
The projects are expected to be commissioned in Q4 2023 and attract other businesses to install solar-plus-storage projects at their facilities, further reducing their carbon footprint.
