The first onshore wind project in Virginia, 75 MW Rocky Forge wind farm, will power state-owned buildings and facilities in Virginia according to PPA with the Commonwealth of Virginia. The State of Virginia has signed the PPA agreement for the whole capacity of the wind farm. The agreement was facilitated by Dominion Energy.
The wind park will be developed in Botetourt County by Apex Clean Energy. The project, which will comprise up to 25 wind turbines for a total capacity of 75 MW, is expected to supply enough energy to cover the annual consumption of up to 20,000 homes.
The Rocky Forge Wind farm is expected to begin commercial operations in 2021.
