Hecate Grid has announced that it has received a site plan approval from Los Angeles County for the development of the 300 MW/ 1,200 MWh Humidor Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project in Los Angeles County, California, USA. The company has also fully contracted the resource adequacy of the project with Southern California Edison (SCE) and California's first community choice energy provider, MCE.
The battery resource will charge when solar and wind resources are abundant and will discharge during peak demand hours, thus helping to reduce power rates in the state. In addition, the facility will provide grid stabilization services that will increase the resilience of California's electricity grid.
The project is expected to be fully commissioned and operational in Q1 of 2024.
