Siemens to supply switchgear for the East Anglia One offshore wind project in UK
Siemens AG announced a deal to provide switchgear for the 714 MW East Anglia One offshore wind project owned by ScottishPower Renewables.
The 102 SF6-free, gas-insulated 8VM1 high-voltage switchgear operates with vacuum circuit-breaker technology and with clean air instead of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) as the insulating medium. The machine protects each wind turbine individually against overloads and short-circuits.
The 102 switchpanels are expected to be delivered by the middle of 2019 and the wind project is expected to commence its commercial operation in 2020.
