Siemens Gamesa to supply turbines for the 448 MW Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind project

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA has secured a contract to supply 54 units of its SG 8.0-167 DD machines and a 15 years service for the 448 MW Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind project in Scottish waters, owned by EDF Renewables to supply turbines.

In May 2018, the GBP1.8 billion (USD 2.32 billion) project was acquired by EDF from developer Mainstream Renewable Power. The project has also secured a 15 year PPA deal with EUR140 (US$ 154) per MWh rate.

The Construction and turbine installation works of the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind project are scheduled to begin 2022. It is expected to generate electricity enough to supply up to 375,000 homes, Once operational.
