TenneT has awarded the contracts to build converter stations on land and at sea, for the BorWin5, to the consortium Siemens AG / Dragados Offshore S.A, while NKT HV Cables AB has been awarded the contract for the production and installation of the DC underground and submarine cables.
BorWin5 will connect the wind farm EnBW He Dreiht with the transmission grid. The project will consist of a 230-kilometer long connection (110 kilometers of land cable, 120 kilometers of submarine cable ) 320-kV HVDC power cables, supplied by NKT, with a maximum transmission capacity of 900 MW.
The commissioning of BorWin5 is planned for 2025.
