The joint venture company of Royal Dutch Shell and CoensHexicon Co Ltd has been granted the permit by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade to proceed with the development of a 420 MW portion of the 1.4 GW floating offshore wind farm project in Ulsan, Korea.
The approved project is part of the 1.4 GW floating wind farm that will be developed by MunmuBaram Co Ltd which is majority-owned by Shell (80%) and CoensHexicon (20%). CoensHexicon is owned by Swedish floating wind specialist Hexicon AB (49%) and Coens Co Ltd. (51%).
MunmuBaram will proceed now to environmental impact assessment (EIA), marine traffic survey, cultural heritage inspection survey, and other activities. Part of their activities also is to carry out wind data measurement and analysis and geotechnical and geophysical surveys.
