Shell and Eneco have agreed to form Joint Ventures (JV) Ecowende and SchakelWind to participate in the tenders for the offshore wind farms 700 MW Hollandse Kust (west) sites VI and VII.
With the JV Ecowende joint, companies are aiming to initiate a movement to build offshore wind farms that have a net positive impact on nature. Whereas JV SchakelWind intends to enable a new phase in the energy transition, for all the sectors in the Dutch Climate Agreement.
It is expected that 700 MW Hollandse Kust (west) VI and 700 MW Hollandse Kust West (HKW) VII will supply enough energy to green approximately 6% of the Dutch electricity demand. Both wind farms will be located 53 kilometers off the Dutch coast, west of IJmuiden, and are expected to be commissioned in 2026.
