Sermsang Power Corporation PCL has announced that the Mongolian solar park with a direct current (DC) capacity of 16.4 MW has commenced commercial operations.
Khunsight Kundi solar is installed in Khunsight, Tuv Province, which is located 40 km from Mongolia's capital, Ulaanbaatar and 16-17 km from the new international airport in Mongolia. The project also involves the construction of a 110/10kV substation, a 5.4km long 110kV double circuit overhead electricity transmission line, as well as the extension of the 110/10kV Khushig substation. The project will generate clean electricity totaling 22.3 gigawatt-hours annually in Mongolia, while lowering the country’s carbon emissions by 26,400 tons per year.
The plant has a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 15 MW of its capacity with the National Dispatch Center (NDC). It will sell electricity at a feed-in tariff (FiT) of US$0.162 (EUR 0.144) per kWh.
Sermsang Power bought a 75% stake in the project on 2018.
