SeaTwirl has signed a deal to sell electricity to Haugaland Kraft, a Norwegian power company headquartered in Haugesund, if a site near the city is chosen for the installation of SeaTwirl S2.
SeaTwirl S2 is a floating wind turbine with a unit installed capacity of 1 MW. Its height above sea level is 55m, while the optimal operating depth is 90-120 metres, though it can be sited at much deeper locations. The turbine diameter is 50m and rotor blade height is 40m.
SeaTwirl plans to install the turbine in the sea in 2020. The Haugesund site is one of several possible sites currently being evaluated.
