Saudi Arabia opens bids for 400 MW wind project

Saudi Arabia's Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) has opened the four bids received from ACWA Power, EDF Energies Nouvelles, ENGIE and Enel Green Power for the 400 MW Dumat Al Jandal wind project.

  • ACWA Power, with technical support from Martifer Renewables, bid to install 394.4 MW for a purchase price of SAR101.132 (US$26.95) per MWh.
  • EDF, in consortium with Masdar, submitted a bid for 400 MW at SAR79.9689 (US$21.31) per MWh.
  • International Power SA, a Dubai-based subsidiary of ENGIE, with consortium member Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic Works Co. (SSEM), bid to sell 404.7 MW wind power for SAR88.7 (US$23.637) per MWh.
  • Enel Green Power, in consortium with Al Babtain Contracting Company, proposed to develop a 418.46 MW wind farm and sell its output for SAR127.1369 (US$33.879) per MWh.

A 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project, the first utility-scale wind project in Saudi Arabia, will be awarded on 18 December.
