The State Government of South Australia has received more than 50 project proposals from energy developers to tap the new AUD50 million (US$35 million) scheme for the solar and wind power plants.
The government is offering up to AUD50 million (US$35 million) through the Grid Scale Storage Fund as it intends to expand in energy storage options, which have so far focused on the highly successful Tesla big battery at Hornsdale (owned and operated by Neoen), and the newly completed Dalrymple North battery on the Yorke Peninsula.
The Fund was launched in November 2018 and focuses on pumped hydro energy storage, hydrogen, and natural gas storage, solar thermal and battery storage projects.
