Australian gold mine developer Resolute Mining has awarded Ignite Energy the development of the 40 MW Syama solar hybrid power plant project at the Syama Gold Mine in Mali.
The hybrid project will incorporate a solar photovoltaic plant, battery storage, and heavy fuel oil (HFO) plant replacing the existing 28 MW diesel-fired power plant at Syama.
The project will be financed, owned and operated by Ignite Energy. It will supply power to the mine on a 12-20 year term under a power purchase agreement (PPA) deal with Resolute Mining.
The plant is expected to commence operation by 2020.
