RES (Renewable Energy Systems) has announced that it has sold the Vargträsk wind project, located in the County of Västerbotten, Sweden, to Vattenfall. The project consists of 21 turbines and has an installed capacity of 80 MW, enough to power approximately 50 000 homes.
The Vargträsk project has been developed by RES and the environmental permit for the project came into force in 2016. Vattenfall has now acquired the assets and will take the project further towards construction.
Known locally in Scandinavia as Nordisk Vindkraft, RES has a portfolio of about ten wind farm projects under development in Sweden and Norway and foresees exponential growth for wind power in Scandinavia. In Västerbotten, RES will now focus on the project cluster of Hornberget, Fjällberg and Vinliden and its connection to the Tuggen Power Station.
