Qatar receives three bids for Facility E IWPP

The Government-owned utility in Qatar, Kahramaa, has received three bids for the planned Facility E independent water and power producer (IWPP) project. 

The bidders are: 

  • Engie (France) / Mitsui (Japan)/ Shikoku Electric (Japan)
  • Marubeni (Japan)/Kyushu Electric (Japan)
  • Sumitomo (Japan)/ Kansai Electric (Japan)

The project with 2,500 MW in size can produce about 100-130 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of desalination capacity. Kahramaa received the bids on August 27, 2020. 

PwC (financial adviser), Clyde & Co (legal adviser), and Energo (technical adviser) were appointed as advisors to the developers.
