SSE Energy Markets has entered a long-term power purchase agreement with CWP for 33% of output from the 308 MW Sanquhar 2 wind farm located in Dumfries and Galloway and East Ayrshire, Scotland.
The company said the offtake share totals 83.4 MW and is expected to generate about 354 GWh of renewable electricity a year. Sanquhar 2 is being built in two phases with first power anticipated in the third quarter of 2026 and full commercial operations targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The wind facility will consist of 44 V162 Vestas turbines, enough to generate electricity to power around 335,000 homes and will offset around 540,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. Construction began onsite in 2025, with the wind farm due to become operational in 2026.
