PPA deal signed for 5 GW Onshore wind project in Uzbekistan

ACWA Power Co. has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan for the 5 GW Aral project in the northwestern autonomous region of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan.

The signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) worth US$4.85 billion took place during the Tashkent International Investment Forum, coinciding with the opening ceremony of ACWA Power's Riverside solar park's initial 100-MW phase in Uzbekistan. This event marks a major milestone in the country's renewable energy advancement as it showcases a strong commitment to diversify its energy sources and expand its renewable sector.

The wind project will be developed in five phases. It is expected to produce approximately 18,500 GWh of clean electricity enough to power approximately 4.5 million houses and offset 247 billion tonnes of CO2 per year.
