EDF Renewables, through its subsidiary Pivot Power, has started the construction of its 50 MW/100 MWh grid-scale battery energy storage project located in the West Midlands of England in the UK.
Named as 'Sandwell project', the lithium-ion battery energy system will generate power enough for the consumption of about 100,000 homes for two hours.
The project will be connected to the transmission network at Bustleholme substation and will support the stability of energy in the grid.
