The Philippines' President has led the commissioning of the Citicore Solar Batangas 1 Power Plants, the country’s first hybrid agrovoltaics and battery storage system.
The Citicore Solar Batangas 1 Power Plants comprises the Lumbangan and Luntal solar projects, which will generate up to 197 MW of renewable energy, supported by a 320 MWh battery storage system. The projects are expected to supply clean energy to around 158,000 households. Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC), a major renewable energy developer in the Philippines, has launched its latest project as part of its pledge to deliver 5 GWh of clean power over the next five years. The initiative supports the nation’s target of reaching a 50% renewable share in the energy mix by 2040. Recognized as one of the country’s top solar PV players, CREC not only focuses on colocated developments but is also expanding the integration of energy storage into its existing solar facilities.
