The Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has commissioned the Batangas 1 project located in Tuy, a municipality in the province of Batangas, around 100km south-west of the capital, Manila, Philippines.
The plant is the nation’s first to integrate agrivoltaics (agriPV) with a battery energy storage system (BESS), combining a 197 MWp solar PV installation with a 320 MWh storage facility. According to developer CREC, this setup allows electricity to be supplied to the local grid beyond the 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. window when the solar panels are actively generating power.
