The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority of the Pembrokeshire County Council has granted the planning consent for a portion of the onshore works of the 500 MW Greenlink interconnector transmission project in Ireland.
The developers can now proceed with the construction works for the underground cables and associated works between the Welsh landfall site at Freshwater West to the boundary with Pembrokeshire County Council. The council is yet to decide on July 28 for the installation of cables to the substation at the Pembroke Power Station and the construction of the converter station.
The project is expected to be operational by 2023.
