Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP) received bids for the 500MW Ibri II solar IPP. The bids were submitted on November 12, 2018. It came from 3 companies forming consortium:
The groups qualified in April 2018, nine of them, have dropped out. The bid deadline was originally set on October 22 but was extended until November 12.
Engie was originally joining alongside with Marubeni for the bid but later decided to work on other power tenders. 75% of the bid drop outs are due to the strict qualification criteria, competition, difficult jurisdiction for financing, including the size of project and the relatively short-term PPA length of 15 years.
The contract for the project involves design, build, finance, operate and maintain.
