Enviromena has officially energised Medebridge Solar Farm, its flagship 71 MWp clean energy project in Essex, UK.
Medebridge will deliver renewable electricity supported by the UK’s largest solar Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with an educational institution. The 10-year agreement with The University of Manchester will supply 65% of the university’s electricity demand, reducing its carbon emissions by approximately 12,000 tonnes annually, equivalent to powering 21,000 homes and reinforcing its long-term commitment to sustainability and energy resilience. Eighty per cent of the power generated (58 GWh) will be purchased directly by the university over the next decade.
The Solar Farm will comprise 104,000 solar panels across 175 acres near South Ockendon, Medebridge is expected to generate over 72,500 MWh of clean electricity each year – enough to power 26,000 homes and save more than 14,000 tonnes of CO₂.
The Planning Inspectorate (PINS) has accepted the 800 MW Great North Road Solar and Biodiversity Park's Development Consent Order (DCO) application for examination.
